Wildflowers Still Bloom

Healing mind, body & soul

Half-Hippie?

My dad always called me a half-hippie. He would say “you have a hippie soul but you were born in the wrong year.” I’m not sure if it was my insistence of cutting up the six pack plastic pop rings so we could save the birds and the turtles or because I was always wanting to recycle or because of the clothes I chose to wear or my love of old music or just a vibe I gave off. But I would always smile…ok with the label.

I’m mid-40s now and I still feel that label. Maybe it’s the tie-dye or the fact that I have actually hugged trees and love to ‘earth’ or the way I love to grow things or how I have a new goal of milling my own flour and eating healthy. Whatever it is, I don’t really care.

When you google: what is a hippie, you get a definition that describes an era of people who lived counter-culture; a group of people who preferred love, peace and environmentalism.

Checks out.
